We loved the teacher librarians and are very excited to remind our staff of the wonderful resources that Langley has. We are also excited to try some inquiry as well, and will be mindful of how to maintain critical thinking within the inquiry process.

Qualitative descriptors for making judgements is critical in causing students to think critically. Developing a criteria for them to ask questions is necessary for creative thinking.

We will definitely be sharing about and using the U-Shaped model. The fact that it is interactive and allows you to move when you hear an idea that makes you think differently about your original position. It allows everyone to share and express their learning even if they never speak with words.

I will use the 2 before 1 strategy. We also really liked the purposeful discussion surrounding the politics and senate question. We really need to think about the way questions are phrased!

We loved how Roland Case made us think about how we should rethink the activities that we do. Helping kids actually 'think' takes time. We need to create good learning opportunities and give them timely feedback.

Loved the focus on letting our kids know that they are moving in the right direction! We have to make sure we are asking the right questions for what we want and give specific criteria to better focus the development of thinking.

In our classrooms, we think that critical thinking is a great way to engage students in lessons. So it is important for teachers take time to allow students to think critically. The questions should be purposeful and should give all a chance a to participate. Ways to do this could include tps, blogging, or U-shaped discussions. Overall, a great way to engage students to get them thinking rather than just passing on information to them.
