It’s an exciting experience to be part of a team that opens a brand new school. At Yorkson Creek Middle School, we have experienced a year of firsts, as we build community, culture and tradition. As I walk around the school, I am amazed by the incredible energy bursting out of every classroom. Students working with staff creating the foundation, which is making Yorkson an amazing place to teach, learn, connect, and thrive.
Before Spring Break this year, the school celebrated the great learning experiences taking place at Yorkson Creek by having staff and students ‘howl’ on our school blog about the great things that have been happening at the school. From fraction videos, to inquiry fairs, to our mini WE day, the staff and students of Yorkson shared stories of our developing culture. Div. 701 started up a school news website just before Christmas this year. Thanks to the enthusiasm of many of the students in division 701, they decided to continue maintaining this website for the duration of the school year. The Newspaper Club was born and now includes students from all grades. These students regularly meet and update Yorkson News for students.
